Description
Bactigras is Smith & Nephew’s antiseptic paraffin-gauze dressing, incorporating chlorhexidine acetate as the active antimicrobial agent. It is indicated for the management of contaminated or clinically infected superficial wounds, minor burns, and skin-graft donor sites where bacterial control is a priority alongside low-adherent wound contact. The open-weave structure retains the drainage properties of standard paraffin gauze while delivering sustained antimicrobial activity to the wound bed.
Key Features
- Chlorhexidine acetate provides broad-spectrum antibacterial activity at the wound surface
- Low-adherent paraffin base minimises trauma and pain at dressing changes
- Open-weave cotton gauze allows exudate to pass freely to secondary dressings
- 5 cm x 5 cm format suits a wide range of small-to-medium acute and chronic wounds
