Wound Care & Dressings in Canada
FinalMedic stocks advanced wound-care dressings and skin-care products from Coloplast, Hollister, ConvaTec and Medline. Choosing the right dressing depends on the wound type and how much it drains (exudate) — when in doubt, follow your clinician’s or wound-care nurse’s plan.
Dressing types at a glance
Foam — absorbent and cushioning, for moderate to heavy exudate.
Hydrocolloid — keeps a moist environment for light exudate; good for shallow wounds and pressure areas.
Alginate — highly absorbent seaweed-based fibre for heavy exudate and packing deeper wounds.
Hydrogel — adds moisture to dry or sloughy wounds to support debridement.
Transparent film — a thin, breathable cover for shallow, low-exudate wounds and securing other dressings.
Antimicrobial (silver) — helps manage wounds at risk of infection.
Don’t forget the surrounding skin
Cleansers, skin-barrier films and protective creams keep the skin around a wound healthy so dressings adhere and the area heals. For advice on a specific wound, call 1-800-295-8579 or ask about billing through our Assignment of Benefits program.
