Its strength lies in decoupling primary and secondary dressing change schedules: the Safetac silicone contact layer can remain over the wound for several days while saturated secondary dressings are swapped out as required. This separation reduces the frequency of full dressing changes, lowers patient anxiety, and helps preserve the fragile tissue matrix that forms during early wound healing.
